H2020 European project SmartAgriHubs

ARVALIS was present for the kick-off meeting of the H2020 European project SmartAgriHubs from the 4th to the 6th of March in Prague.

This project, gathering 140 partners from 22 countries for a budget of 20 M€, aims to bring innovators along with farmers to drive the digital transformation of the European Agro-Food industry. To this end, two entities have been identified :
- Competence Center – CC : centers developing one or several competencies to boost the projects
- Digital Innovation Hub – DIH : ecosystem attracting innovating firms by enhancing access to knowledge, expertise, and experiment means, as well as developing a powerful economic model

Within the project, Competence Center and Digital Innovation Hub work together to implement experiments to test relevant technical and economic innovations for producers (Flagship Innovation Experiment – FIE).

FIEs are spread within 9 regional clusters, including France where 3 FIEs are co-animated by Région Pays-de-Loire and ACTA :

- Strate-GEEK created in the vision of developing a Decision Support Tool (DST) on strategic choices on the farm. This DST will be based on a web version of SYSTERRE® where indicators will be provided by API, from ACTA Informatique. This FIE, led by ARVALIS, will bring together farmers, advisers and economic operators to better understand their needs around such a tool. The Digifermes® and TERRASOLIS will support ARVALIS on the testing and deployment of the tool. Project duration: 3 years.

- Digi-PILOTE whose objective is to develop ad-hoc IT infrastructures, in order to deploy in France a nitrogen control system for common wheat and durum wheat based on CHN crop model with data assimilation from sensors. ARVALIS, associated with ACTA Informatique and API AGRO, will develop APIs enabling the exchange of data between partners to facilitate flows. The GPS agricultural cooperative and the Digifermes® network will evaluate, through interfaces developed for this purpose, the technical and economic interest of this future tool.

- AgriFarmLab which has set up a system to support innovative solutions for the agricultural industry through a call for proposals to finance promising start-ups. This FIE brings together Inf'Agri85, the Chambre d’Agriculture des Pays de la Loire, CEA Tech, Végépolys, and images&réseaux.

SmartAgriHubs is an ambitious project gathering all the European actors of the agricultural digital world. For ARVALIS, taking part in it is promoting the activities and skills of our institute and opening up possibilities of future collaborations with new partners that are essential in this sector.
